Routers to Avoid

D-Link
2Wire
Linksys (Not Cisco)

Routers We Suggest

Consumer Grade: Netgear WNR2000 (hardware version 5 and up)
Small Business: Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite
Higher Grade: Meraki/SonicWall/FortiNet

Networking Best Practices

1. Disable the SIP ALG on the Router AND Modem
2. Disable the H.323 ALG on the Router AND Modem
3. Disable SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection)

For customers with Cable Modems (time warner, charter, etc.) tell the Carrier to disable all of the above AND all firewall functions. We want the modem on full pass-through mode, no packet alterations whatsoever.
